Musketeers

– $90.00/month* – one 60 minute class per week.

A fun introduction to the Olympic sport of fencing, for 5 to 10 years old!

Fencing games of speed and agility warm up children, continued by basic stances, lunges, target practice and fencing fun!

Lori Schmidt, our Children Programs Instructor, will make your weekend mornings fun, helping the little ones learn camaraderie, sportsmanship as well as other “Mad Skillz” which you can only “getz dem” at Olympia!

USFA (non – competitive) membership required.

Youth Learn To Fence

– $90.00/month* – one 60 minute class per week.

Similar to Musketeers program, but for older kids,  11 to 14 years old, students become acquainted with the epee, learn basic rules, posture, build body strength and focus, under the guidance of our youth coach, chess instructor and great Harvard master mind, Scott Foster.

USFA (non – competitive) membership required.

Youth Precompetitive

– $110.00/month* – one 90 minute class per week.

A step forward from the beginner classes, students are introduced to proper stances, more advanced foot work, basic blade work and simple tactics as well as the rules and regulations of the sport.

Pre Competitive students must buy or rent ($25.00/month) their equipment and weapon.

USFA (non – competitve) membership required.

Youth Competitive 1

– $135.00/month* – two 90 minute classes per week and Sunday bouting.

Technical and tactical instruction for athletes who want to further develop their skills with the goal of competing in regional and national tournaments. Students are taught to excel in fencing through a combination of organized bouting, conditioning and private instruction.

USFA membership required.

Youth Competitive 2

– $175.00/month*

Same as the previous class, except the students will meet three times a week, for more intensive fencing training.

Junior Competitive

– $225.00/month* – three 2 hour classes per week and Sunday bouting

This program is designed for advanced fencers who are competing at the national and international level. Their goals might include winning a national championship, competing for NCAA or making a US National Team.

Open Fencing

Free to the club members, for visitors – $15.00 floor fee.

USFA membership required.

*Class fees do not include individual lessons, USFA membership, tournament coaching or travel expenses.

Coaching Fees:

Local Tournaments: $50.00

Non-Local Tournaments: $80.00 + half travel day.

(Coach travel expenses will be divided between athletes being coached.)

It is strongly recommended that fencers interested in the competitive side of the sport to attend tournaments at their skill level. Coaches will accompany athletes to competitions only if coaching arrangements have been established ahead of time. As a courtesy rule, if two members of our club end up fencing each other in a tournament, coaches will not assist.

  • Private lessons are available to the club members only.
  • Olympia Fencing Center does not accept dual memberships.
