2019 Div l Women’s Epee and Men’s Foil Champions
Olympia fencers find great success at the 2019 Summer Nationals and July Challenge, held in Columbus, Oh, this July.
Emily Vermeule is the new National Champion in Div l Women’s Epee, and foilist Daniel Zhang wins also the Div l Men’s Foil!
At only fifteen years old, Daniel is the youngest fencer to win a Div l title in any weapon, ever!
Overall, our students win two Gold and three Bronze medals, in some of the strongest events of the competition.

Y12 Women’s Epee: Ashley Luo – 6th place among 119 participants.
Y12 Women’s Foil: Bridgette Ouyang – 6th out of 163 registered
Div l Men’s Foil: Adam Yang, 7th in a pool of 173 fencers
Junior Men’s Epee: Michael Corban – 7th among 348 best juniors in the country!
Y10 Women’s Epee: Nicole Tang- 7th out of 75 participants
Div lll Women’s Foil: Jaime Yu – 7th in 156 registered
Vet 40 Women’s Epee: Eva Heinrich – 8th
Seven honorable mentions for top 16:
Y14 Men’s Epee: Tony Whelan takes 9th place
Y14 Women’s Epee: Elena Robles, 10th
Y14 Women’s Foil: Sophia Shen – 10th
Veteran Men’s Epee: George Scott – 11th
Div lll Women’s Epee: Michelle Pan – 13th
Div l Men’s Foil: Kevin Liu -16th
