Strip Coaching Registration for Competitions

General Guidelines

• Strip coaching is optional and available exclusively to Olympia Fencing Center members. Please read the details on this page, specifically dedicated to this subject.
• We are happy to offer strip coaching for any competition if there is enough interest (eight to ten people registered, depending on the size of the event).
• With very few exceptions, strip coaching registration opens and closes on the same date the USFA has these dates set for the specific event.
  We only consider the regular registration deadline of a competition, not the deadline with a late entry fee.
  Accurate numbers are crucial for us to determine the number of coaches to send to the event, make travel arrangements, and plan the club’s class coverage.
• The strip coaching fees include a travel fee and a per-person/per-event fee.
  After we receive the submissions, we can send the parents an estimated travel cost, which will be charged to your credit cards on your account after your return, including any additional late fees. This fee may change slightly if unforeseen travel costs increase; however, you will be notified via email before any charges are applied.
• A fencer may register for strip coaching ahead and ask for withdrawal if they change their mind before the registration closes. The travel fee is to be paid in full in the event of a late withdrawal.
• A per-person event fee must be paid before the competition’s starting date.
  Payments can be left in the dedicated cash boxes in the waiting room, with your name, competition, and number of events registered for (payment envelopes are provided in the box side sleeve).
• No payments are accepted on competition day!
  Please allow our coaches to focus on assisting your children.
  A $20.00 late fee will be applied to late payments, and a $30.00 fee will be applied to non-payments when we charge your fee online.

🗡️ Strip Coaching: Important Reminders & Deadlines

When to Sign Up
Complete the strip coaching form as soon as you register your fencer for an event. Early sign-up allows us to plan effectively, ensure coaching coverage, and keep costs reasonable for families.

Waitlisted?

We strongly encourage families to complete the strip coaching form even if your fencer is waitlisted—it’s much easier for us to overestimate the number of fencers who need coaching than to underestimate. Simply check the “waitlisted” box when filling out the form, and submit your payment as usual.
If your fencer is not admitted to the event, please email us to let us know, and we will issue a refund.

Late Sign-Ups

Late sign-ups may be accepted at the club’s discretion, based on availability.

• National Tournaments: $150.00 late fee.
• Regional Events: $100.00 late fee.

Withdrawing from Strip Coaching
If you need to withdraw from strip coaching for an event, you must do so by the same deadline set by the event organizer.
We arrange travel well in advance to keep travel fees as low as possible; last-minute withdrawals (not due to emergencies) will still be responsible for the travel fee.
