As announced on August 5, 2026, USA Fencing is changing the eligibility rules for the top-tier events (Cadet, Junior, Senior).
The changes are part of the new national events and unified points structure that took effect on August 1.

1. Minimum points are now required before registering

For the first time, simply having a qualifying classification or previous eligibility is no longer enough for certain national events.
Minimum point thresholds are now required to register for:

• Division I: 150 points
• Junior: 100 points
• Cadet: 100 points

These points must be earned before registration opens.

2. Registration is based on the new unified points system

USA Fencing has replaced the previous segmented points structure with a single unified points list for each category (Cadet, Junior and Division I).
Points earned from different qualifying events now contribute to one ranking rather than multiple parallel lists, simplifying qualification and seeding.

3. National event registration will follow the new eligibility rules

When registration opens for National events (beginning with the October NAC), USA Fencing will verify that each athlete has met the required minimum points before allowing registration. Athletes who have not reached the threshold will not be eligible to enter those events.
