Robert Hondor wins Bronze at the 2021 NCAA Championships!
NCAA Bronze Medal Winner!!
It is every parent’s dream, and it was an AMAZING feeling to witness Robert on the ESPN channel receiving his medal this weekend!
Robert was one of the 24 épéeists fencers qualified for the 2021 NCAA Championships, among 144 athletes from 19 colleges and universities.
Overall, he wins 18 out of his 23 bouts, placing second in scored touches (99, highest overall being 100), and earning the second-best indicator in the Men’s Épée event.
Day two finds Robert undefeated, with a total of eight victories, and, in the final, Robert ties for third place and earns a Bronze medal!!

Robert’s results are leading his fencing team, the NJIT Highlanders, to an amazing 4th place, the best result in the team’s history ever!!
Robert started training with his father and Olympia founder, Daniel Hondor, at the age of 10, until his high school graduation. During this time, he won numerous titles and medals: he made the US Cadet Team, in 2016, and won a silver medal at the Bratislava Cadet Circuit (SVK), Junior Olympic champion, in 2017, Senior Men’s Épée Champion 2019, NEUSFA Pomme De Terre, individually and with the team.
Robert was ranked 43rd in the world, and 9th in the US in Cadet Men’s Épée, and 35th in the US, in Juniors Men’s Épée.In 2018, he received an Academic Excellence Award and Athletic Scholarship at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, in Newark, NJ, where he’s pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a Mechanical Engineering major.
