More Medals for Olympia
For the past two weekends, Olympia’s fencers have traveled to Mission Fencing Center, in Rocky Point, NY, for the annual Jeff Wolfe Regional Open Circuit and the Super Youth Circuit, held this weekend.
One Silver, four bronze medals, thirteen fencers in top 16 – here are the detailed results:
Jeff Wolfe, Div 1A, Div 2, Senior Men’s and Women’s Open

- Div 1A Senior Men’s Foil – 95 competitors
Bin Huang, 3rd place and earned his A ranking!
In the same competition, novice Paul Gaudet placed 27th.
Robert Hondor takes 3rd place among 75 registered, one of the youngest in the competition.
- Div 1A Senior Women’s Epee
Becca Barnes, 3rd place followed by Isabel Kain, 8th and Emily Vermeule (the youngest in the competition), 11th.
Christine Feagans and Lori Schmidt make top 32 as well, placing 26th and, respectively, 27th.
- C & Under Senior Men’s Foil
Lei Chen comes in 8th place, best result in the New England Division, followed by Paul Gaudet, 19th and Adam Young, 21st.
- D & Under Senior Men’s Foil
Kevin Ye takes the Bronze medal and earns his E2016 rating!
Another competition – in Bellevue, WA, at the Rain City SYC, Alex Ma placed 7th out of 68 competitors in Y12Men’s Foil.
Olympia’s fencers surpassed with their results all the clubs in the New England Division and we’re proud of each one of them!

Spencer Vermeule, Silver medal in Y12 Men’s Epee
Daniel Zhang, Bronze medal in Y12 Men’s Foil followed by Niles Liu, 6th place.
Jonas Hansen took 9th place in Y14 Men’s Epee while Paul Chen finished 15th in Y10 Men’s Foil followed by Sophia Shen, 16th in Y12 Women’s Foil.
Very proud of our young fencers, most of them just starting up their competitive journey!
