Benefits of Starting Fencing in Your Teen Years
Socialization among teens has declined since the COVID-19 pandemic, and fencing is the ideal sport for connecting the teen generation across body types, genders, and physical abilities.
Everyone is welcome, and everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow with a sport that has no age barriers and can be practiced for life. USA Fencing offers a referee program that allows people as young as 13 to become certified. Referees earn income through USFA-sanctioned competitions, in- and out-of-state.
Fencing is not only a way to keep healthy and fit, but to be a part of an inclusive community, to acquire skills that stay with you for life, and to get you rewarded in a multitude of ways, either as a referee, a coach, or a mentor.
