Welcome to the newest addition to our coaches amazing team, Kevin Katayama
We are proud to announce and warmly welcome Kevin Katayama as the newest member of our coaching staff!

Kevin joins our group of other young coaches, Robert Hondor, Miles Weiss, and Ben Rogak, whom he has known since college, and shares their passion for fencing, mentoring, and athlete development. We are looking forward to having them work together, fence together, and further their coaching career together as friends and a team.
Kevin started fencing in middle school and instantly fell in love with the sport. He started competing almost immediately, and years later, he developed into a high-level national athlete.
Here are some of his best achievements during his competitive years:
- top-12 ranking in Juniors
- 37th in Seniors
- top-8 finish at the 2018 Division I Summer Nationals
- Recruited in Division I NCAA, recipient of a full athletic scholarship
- 2022 and 2023 NCAA qualification

Today, Kevin continues his fencing journey as a competitor, and outside the strip, as a coach.
We are confident that his expertise and dedication will make a meaningful impact on our fencers and contribute greatly to the continued growth of our program.
At Olympia Fencing Center, we take great pride in building an exceptional coaching team, and we are excited to have Kevin join it!
Welcome, Coach Kevin!
