Enrollment Process

A. Sign up for an annual “Access” membership type with the USA Fencing Association.
For step-by-step instructions, follow this link.

B. Select your club membership: follow this link to the Registration Portal.
Note that you already have an account since your trial, and there is no need to re-register (LOG IN instead with the email used at the trial booking).

C. Select your fencing loaner package ( fencing gear loaners and purchases).

What happens after you register?

Show up on your first day, stop by the attendance kiosk and check in.
Our coaches will meet and greet you and introduce you to the class.
After the warm-up period, the new student will be sized up in a rental package (or new outfit, as preferred).
The gear package must be taken home, cleaned as needed, and brought to every class.
The rental package can be kept until the fencer outgrows it, after which we’re happy to provide a different size at no cost to you.
Read more here about the terms and conditions of the rental gear.

New and returning fencers
This is the fencers’ growth path, from the beginning to the most advanced level

LEVEL ONE —)————-   Beginners

Musketeer/Youth Learn to Fence
(ages 7-9 and 10-12)
Two weekly sessions are recommended, and participation in our in-club D’Artagnan competition for beginners.
Fencers can stay in this program for a full season (August 1st to July 31st) or longer.
Fencing gear is available for rent; the weapons (épées), aka as “swords,” are provided by the club for all beginner programs, with the exception of those who prefer to add private lessons.

Teens/Adults Learn to Fence
(ages 13-15 and 16+)
We recommend starting with one weekly session and gradually adding a second. A private lesson is a great addition to the group class, and will help with the fencer’s swift progress.
Fencers will make the transition to the Teens Advanced program after completing a season in this program.
Fencing gear is available for rent or purchase; the weapons are provided by the club.

LEVEL TWO —)————-   Pre-Competitive

 Youth Pre-competitive
(ages 9-12)
Returning students who completed a season in the Learn to Fence program, and who don’t have competitive aspirations.
Two weekly classes are recommended for a physically fit tone and a healthy body.
This is an excellent addition for those fencing in schools who aspire to be selected for varsity teams.
D’Artagnan for beginners is a great add-on to keep engaged, and a good source for learning the rules of the competition.
The club provides the weapons, and rentals are available.
Students can remain in this program until they age out (ages 13+) or are transitioned to a competitive program.

LEVEL THREE  —)————-   Competitive

 a) Youth Invitational
(ages 9-12)
Fencers who demonstrate commitment, discipline, and an affinity for the sport are individually selected to join our group of future champions!
The students participate in our in-club, D’Artagnan competitions, and take a step further in the local, regional, and national youth events

Two 60-minute weekly classes and at least one private lesson are required.
Cannot be combined with other days/memberships.
Must own fencing gear and a weapon.
– Students can stay here until they are promoted to either the competitive or Teens programs.
An annual club fee applies to all competitive programs.

b) Youth Competitive
(ages 9-12)
The fencers compete in sanctioned competitions and start earning National Rolling Points.
At least two weekly sessions, two private lessons, and consistent participation in major national events are required.
More about this program on this page.

c) Teens Advanced
(ages 13+)
The fencers are eligible to move into this program either after one year of completion of the Youth beginner programs (depending on the age at which they joined the club) or as soon as they turn 13.
Fencing gear can still be rented, but a weapon is required, and the annual club fee is in effect.
No private lessons are required.

They can compete freely outside the club (e.g., local/regional events) or at more advanced competitions.

LEVEL FOUR
—)————- Elite Competitive

Our most advanced program, based exclusively on invitation.
The students in this program compete at the national and international levels.
Historically, Olympia Fencing Center has proudly produced consecutive generations of NCAA, national, world, and Olympic champions since 2012, being recognized as the most successful fencing club in the Northeast region!

Program requirements:

  • At least three years of competitive fencing experience.
  • Three, 2-hour classes per week, and open bouting on Sunday.
  • Three to five private lessons per week, and participation in all major national tournaments.

Read details about this program on this page.

Lastly…

We hope our students love fencing with us, and we are happy to help parents purchase new gear, weapons, and anything they need as they progress through the different class levels, at the same price as vendors.
This is offered only to our club members to reduce the stress of sizing and learning about different types and options.

Here is the link to the page where you can read more about returning your gear loaner, fencing equipment pricing, and other club gear you may be interested in purchasing.
