Olympia’s Robert Hondor wins the 2024 Tom Gorman Beanpot in Senior Men’s Épée
Famous for … beans, we certainly hope that Boston will soon become famous for fencing as well (at least, we’re trying)
Three of the eight OFC fencers registered make it to top 8 in Senior Men’s Épée this past weekend, at this popular annual competition:
Robert Hondor: Gold
Troy Song: 6th place
Cordell Zebrose: 7th place

The Tom Gorman Beanpot has been a staple in Boston’s fencing competitions since 2006.
Alongside the Jack Norton Hangover, held on the first day of each year, and the Bay State Games, usually held mid-summer, these competitions are not only fun but a chance to get new ratings, and fence some of the best local fencers in all three weapons.
While fencing is growing in popularity (and numbers) as a sport, these events attract lately fencers from all over the country and Canada.
Since our first year of existence, in 2012, Olympia fencers, both men and women, have made top 8 in ALL Tom Gorman’s events, and won numerous Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, dominating the Epee fencing in the New England Division, and among participants from all around the country.
Past medalists include Ava Wade, Nour Azmeh, Maximilian Shah, Harry Gui, Adam Young, David Adamian, Isabel Kain, Ali Letendre, Emily Vermeule, Lori Schmidt – to name just a few, going down into the past…
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the fencers who proudly represented our club!
See you in 2025!
