World Silver Medalists, USA Men’s Épée Team, Dubai, UAE!
Olympia Alumn, Gabriel Feinberg, takes the Silver with the USA Junior Men’s Épée Team!!
The Fencing World Championships take place every year during the month of April, to crown the world champions in each of the three weapons: epee, foil, and saber.
For those new to fencing, here are the short version guidelines on how athletes qualify for these world championships:
- For Cadet World Championships (under 17), the national top three ranked fencers on the Cadet team points standings (for each weapon) at the end of the season are selected for the team and will compete individually at the tournament.
- For Junior World Championships (under 20), the top four ranked fencers on the Junior team point standings (for each weapon) at the end of the season are selected for the team and will compete individually at the tournament.

This year, we’re proud to send, one more time, another one of our students to this prestigious event: after Emily Vermeule became the world Silver medalist in Verona, Italy, in 2018, Olympia Alumn, Gabriel Feinberg, has earned a well-deserved spot in the Junior’s Men’s Epee USA Team, 2022!
Gabriel is a freshman at Ohio State University, and he is currently ranked 2nd in Junior Men’s Épée in the USA, and 63rd in the world, in the same category (5th best international ranking among USA fencers).
He started fencing at six years old and is training with Coach Daniel for the past twelve years.

Gabriel is among the 37 fencers from 13 states that represented Team USA at the 2022 Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The competition started on April 2nd and concluded on April 10th, with an amazing medal count of six Gold, three Silver, and six Bronze, a total of FIFTEEN medals, placing the USA Team in the first place!!
Italy came in second with eight medals, followed by France, with six, Japan, with five, Germany and Hungary, with four medals each.
Only Team USA (six) and Italy (two) brought home multiple gold medals from the tournament.
In the Junior Men’s Épée event, Gabriel lost for the top 32 by two touches and finished with a 58th place result.
Justin Haddad and Skyler Liverant earned the best results for the USA fencers, with 19th and, respectively, 20th place, among 207 best epeeists in the world.
In the teams’ event, USA Junior Men’s Épée Team, formed by Gabriel Feinberg, Justin Haddad, Skyler Liverant, and Henry Lawson, earned a Silver medal among 42 world teams! They have been defeated by Egypt, with a 45-40 final score.
The Junior Women’s Épée earned also a Bronze medal in the Teams event.
