2014 North American Cup, Portland, ORE
Olympia Fencing Center is happy to welcome back all our fencers participating to the Portland NAC, one of the toughest tournaments of the year.
Olympians and world champions have gathered to fence in this event, which served as qualifiers for the 2015 Senior World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
Here’s a recap of the competition, from our club’s perspective:
- Two Silver medals in Cadet Men’s Epee (Josh Wolkoff) and Div ll Women’s Epee (Isabel Kain).
- Div l Women Epee: Hanna Provenza placed 39th out of 150 registered fencers.
- Div ll Men’s Epee – out of 135 registered epeeists, Mattew Mansoor – 17th and Robert Hondor – 18th.
- Senior Team Women’s Epee: Olympia’s “Omega” team – Hannah Provenza, Lori Schmidt and Nadia Eldeib, placed 4th, while our younger girls, Olympia team”ONE” –Alissa Hoffman, Emma Harris and Isabel Kain, placed 10th.
- Senior Team Men’s Epee, after a strenuous, long competition, our young boys, Josh, Matthew and Robert came in 15th place.
It’s been a great experience and we’re very proud of the way they all carried themselves through this tough competition!
Our young club is growing every day, becomes stronger and gains more recognition with every tournament.
