Look Who’s Ten Years Old!!
Whooo!! We’re getting older…
It’s been like yesterday when we opened our doors for the first time, on a cold November day, 2012, in Cambridge’s “back yard” – an industrial area tucked behind train tracks and trucks parking.
It’s been like yesterday, when we started building our fencing floor, hanging up the scoring machines, and hoping for fresh students to walk through the door.
The young fencing club that started with only twenty students ten years ago, morphed into the largest one-weapon fencing club in the country!
Over four hundred students and their families make up today the biggest fencing community in the New England area. Eleven coaches, four junior coaches, ten different fencing levels for all ages, numerous medals in national and international competitions, world champions, three NCAA medalists, and an Olympic Bronze – these are only a few of our accomplishments during these years.
Building the new club
From November 16, 2012, until the 26th of the same month, we build the fencing floor with the help of our fencing parents, students, and the few coaches we started with.

A few years later…
- In July 2017, only five years after opening, our young club received the USA Fencing Association “Excellence Award in Membership“, as the fastest growing club in the country!
- In 2020, Olympia Fencing Center has been recognized among the clubs that have consistently produced top fencers at the senior, junior, cadet, and veteran levels and whose athletes have reached the highest levels during the last season, being presented with the President’s Award for International Success.
- In 2022, our second location will open its doors in Newton, MA, welcoming children and adults ages 7-77!
We’d like to take this opportunity to express our utmost thanks to our coaches, who passionately and tirelessly worked to bring their students to their absolute best potential, to make it possible to achieve their dreams!
In no particular order: Daniel Hondor, Julian Rueda Espinosa, Mark Elbag, Angelica Brisk, George Scott, Zach Boynton, Isabela Trumble, Edward Mullarkey, Robert Hondor, Tony Whelan, Daniel Matei.

Last but not least, a huge thank you to our wonderful families, many of whom became our friends connected through fencing, parenting, winning, and fail: Olympia would not be the reputable and successful club that we are today, without your support!
You're Invited!
Please join us on Saturday, September 10th, from 1:30 PM, for a potluck party to celebrate this milestone!
Let’s get together for a day of fun-filled memories, create new ones, and welcome our newcomers; food and refreshments will be served, music, and children’s games.
This is a children-friendly party, and the whole family is invited. Friends are welcome, and bragging about your fencing skills is encouraged!
See you there!
